OFYC Members were successful in passing TWO pieces of Legislation this session!
HB 2889 Enables youth in foster care starting at age 12 years to open a Savings Account in their own name, without a co-signer.
HB2890 Ensures that youth in foster care have the opportunity to participate one ongoing extracurricular activity.
The Legislative Action Committee (Alexis Baska, Joshua Ashbaugh, Cain Stellings, Zachary Miller, and Nathan Schwab) was elected at the 2015 Advocacy Convening and began working shortly after that. They wrote testimony, presented testimony to both Senate & House Committees, met with legislators, answered some tough questions about our bill ideas, and spent a lot of time really understanding all of the possible impact of both bills.
