Watching history happen!
On September 28th, 2015 nine OFYC members were present to watch Governor Kate Brown sign OFYC’s bills into law.
Youth in Oregon will now have more access to savings accounts and extracurricular activities.
Thanks to the OFYC Legislative Action team for all your hard work!
HB 2889 – Gives youth in foster care the opportunity to open a savings account in their own name, without a co-signer, starting at age 12.
HB 2890 – Gives youth in foster care the opportunity to participate in at least one ongoing extracurricular activity. (While there is no money to make this happen… This bill encourages youth, foster parents, case workers, and communities to problem solve any challenges to youth participating.)
